Breakaway Clubs

for young people with learning disabilities

Breakaway is a programme that transitions young people with learning disabilities from childhood to adulthood.
Breakaway Clubs run in community venues, schools and colleges and are suitable for young people aged between 14 and 25 years who do not need personal care or one-to-one support.
Each club works around themes chosen by the members and activities include music, dance and drama.
Breakaway Clubs often perform at local events and enjoy trips and mini breaks throughout the year.
Breakaway is an after school/college arts project for young people with learning disabilities. The project brings together young people who enjoy music, drama, dance, and art, helping them to develop skills for life, independence and resilience.
The most important aspect is the support for personal development and progression for all the young people that attend.
In addition to the weekly sessions young people can take part in community volunteering as a Breakaway Ambassador.
